Introduction. Due to its particular geological conditions, Mexico is blessed with abundant geothermal resources. Most of its high-temperature (T> °C) resources, suitable for electric power generation, have been explored and assessed, because of their perceived economic the low- to medium-temperature resources (TCited by:

TJC / GRC. The Earth’s heat flow and geothermal gradient are defined, as well as the types of geothermal fields, the geologic environment of geothermal energy, and the methods of exploration for geothermal resources including drilling and resource assessment. This map shows heat flow, thermal springs and wells, known geothermal resource areas, and areas thought to be underlain by low-temperature thermal waters. The emphasis is on waters with temperatures from /sup 0/C. (MHR). New Mexico is blessed with several low-temperature (°F) geothermal systems.

A few hot springs in the Jemez Mountains are associated with cooling magma beneath the southwest margin of the Valles caldera.

Most of the hot springs in our state lie in or near the Rio Grande rift. Bibliography We are a research and service division of: The Geologic Information Center at the New Mexico Bureau of Geology and Mineral Resources (NMBGMR) maintains a bibliography of New Mexico geology, which contains all the information in the 12 published bibliographies of New Mexico through to The groundwater of low-temperature geothermal systems located in the Mexican Highlands is used as an urban water supply owing to water scarcity in the area.

In the Juventino Rosas (JR) area, central Mexico, the highest well temperature is 50°C; most of. New Mexico currently utilizes low and intermediate temperature geothermal resources for aquaculture, greenhouses, recreation, district heating, and space heating.

In recent years there has been renewed interest in exploring and developing these geothermal resources, and in determining the sustainability of existing resources statewide. Motivated by this, we started a project to estimate Mexico’s medium- to low-temperature (geothermal reserves. In the context of this project we collected and interpreted relevant data and developed an.

Mexico’s overall energy demand is expected to grow at an average rate of % per year over the next decade, and the government has set an ambitious target of 35% clean energy generation by (SENER ). Mexico is endowed with significant geothermal energy resources, with.
